Selvedge

Selvedge Review

This isn't your everyday glossy, one that is 'current' today and in a few months, old news and ready to retire to the waste bin. Selvedge is a magazine (more of a slim book to me) that you can easily place on your bookcase and refer to often for years to come. The theme is textiles, and as we all know, textiles date back thousands of years, so the topic alone is hard to tire of (especially if you are interested in textiles, the history of textiles, or the 21st century textile artists who are out there creating a more modern take on a traditional work). They spotlight some amazing leaders as well as 'rising stars' in the industry, and each page is 100% eye candy - you'll really enjoy looking at all the full-color beauty in Selvedge alone. The articles are very informative, well-written, and the topics are all very interesting. The layout of the magazine is impressive, and the ads they do have are reserved for a particular section, and presented so well that you'll find yourself enjoying the ad space. Bottom line: Selvedge sparkles, an absolute must read, I highly suggest picking up a copy and supporting this top notch magazine.

Selvedge magazine offers fine textile photography, cutting edge reports on contemporary textile art, detailed profiles of internationally renowned artists, articles on ethnographic textiles, critical coverage of the fashion and design industry, news, book reviews, and information on exhibitions and listings.
